Pet Surgery

Safe, compassionate spays, neuters, and minor surgical procedures. We understand that surgery can feel stressful, and we treat every patient as though they were our own.

Procedures We Offer

  • Spays
We recommend spaying at 6 months of age. If you do not plan on breeding your pet, there is no need to wait for her first heat cycle. Benefits of spaying:
    • Prevents heat cycles, along with the bleeding and unwanted attention from males that come with them
    • Prevents unplanned litters
    • Greatly lowers the risk of mammary (breast) cancer, especially when done before the first heat
    • Eliminates the risk of pyometra, a serious and life-threatening uterine infection
    • Eliminates the risk of ovarian and uterine cancer
  • Neuters
We recommend neutering at 6 months of age. Benefits of neutering:
    • Prevents unplanned litters
    • Eliminates the risk of testicular cancer
    • Lowers the risk of prostate problems
    • Can reduce roaming, marking, and mounting behaviors
    • In cats, can reduce spraying and fighting
  • Lumpectomies (lump and mass removals)
  • Minor surgical procedures

Please note: we do not perform orthopedic surgeries. If your pet needs orthopedic surgery, we can help refer you to a specialist.

Before & After Surgery

Before your pet's procedure, we'll go over everything you need to know, including how to prepare at home. We recommend bloodwork before surgery to check for bleeding or clotting issues and to make sure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia.

Pre-Surgery Medications

Before surgery, we give your pet pre-medications to help:

  • Reduce anxiety and stress
  • Prevent nausea
  • Lower the amount of anesthesia needed for the procedure

After Surgery

We'll send you home with clear care instructions and are always available to answer questions during recovery.

Electrocautery

We use electrocautery during surgery. Electrocautery uses a precisely controlled electrical current to seal small blood vessels as we work. This means:

  • Less bleeding during surgery
  • A clearer view for the surgeon
  • Shorter procedures, which means less time under anesthesia for your pet
